Farm to Table Tour
Finca Vista Hermosa is a local farm sponsored in part by the UN Development Projects in Bacuranao Pueblo. They offer a guided farm tour, horseback ride & lunch package for visitors interested in discovering more about rural agricultural production. It’s available without transportation if you contact them directly. Their star product is cheese, produced on-site from milk from their herds of cows & goats.

Sew with Victoria
Sewing’s a lost art in much of the developed world, but not in Cuba! Seamstresses are a valuable part of our community. Fancy mending some clothes, creating something new, or transforming something old? Then let us book you in for a 1/2 or full day with our neighbor Victoria. You bring the materials, and she’ll whip it up on her home sewing machine. This is a great way to support a hardworking female entrepreneur and also a good window into everyday Cuban life. Another option you could consider for creative, fun textile projects in Havana is Cache Creativa.

Snorkel at the Rincon de Guanabo
We could hook you up with a local dive instructor who also collaborates with beach cleanups at a nearby protected area. He has snorkel equipment available for rental, or you can bring your own. A coral reef with endangered elkhorn coral and other species are the main attraction. We often see skin divers here during kayak excursions too.

You can use the free version of Ride With GPS – premium navigation features are included with our “Event”.

Dive/Snorkel a Shipwreck
A number of shipwrecks are scattered around Havana. One that’s relatively easy to snorkel to can be found right off Bacuranao Beach. You might also enjoy snorkeling around the entrance to the Tarara marina, or lolling around the lagoons between Tarara and Megano beaches.

Plant Some Trees
Go ahead, twist our arm to take you shopping for fruit trees and bushes to plant around the neighborhood. It’s another goal of our community-oriented project. One of the fun parts of permaculture life is discovering and sharing some of the great like-minded people who produce some of the trees and plants that beautify and make our public spaces practical and useful. What better thing to leave behind than a tree that can feed those that follow! You might also consider supporting this group working to save & promote planting of native species in Havana. Or meet up with a local landscaping & home maintenance group from Sibarimar to lend a hand with their projects.
